EXPERT ADVICE · LONDON FINSBURY CLINIC
Why do forehead lines and heavy brows need individual assessment?
Forehead lines can become more visible when you raise your eyebrows, but an assessment needs to consider more than the lines themselves. At London Finsbury Clinic in King’s Cross, we discuss facial movement, brow position, previous treatments and the expression you want to retain before considering a plan.
Why forehead lines need a wider assessment
The forehead muscle helps lift the eyebrows. Other muscles around the brows act in different directions. Some people also raise their forehead muscles to compensate for a lower brow position or heavier upper eyelids. These differences can influence how a proposed treatment might feel and look.
A doctor therefore assesses your face at rest and during movement. Existing asymmetry, the position of the brows and the relationship between the forehead and eye area all matter. The same injection pattern is not suitable for every face.
Why more units are not automatically better
If a prescription treatment is considered after consultation, its dose and placement are clinical decisions. Stronger muscle movement does not mean that simply increasing the number of units is the right answer. A conservative plan may be appropriate for some people; another approach or no treatment may be more appropriate for others.
A lower dose cannot guarantee that heaviness or drooping will not occur. Units also differ between products and should not be compared as though they were interchangeable. The purpose of assessment is to understand the individual face and explain reasonable expectations, rather than choose a treatment by unit count alone.
Discussing previous heaviness or drooping
If a previous treatment left your brows feeling heavy, tell your clinician what happened, when it began and how long it lasted. Bring previous treatment records if you have them, including the product, date and areas treated. Photographs from before and after that appointment may help the discussion.
A new clinician cannot establish the cause from a short description alone. Brow heaviness, eyelid drooping and pre-existing eyelid or brow changes are not necessarily the same problem. They need an individual assessment. Do not seek extra injections simply to correct a result without first speaking to a qualified clinician.
What to ask at your consultation
Ask how your forehead movement and brow position affect the proposed plan. Explain whether keeping movement is a priority and which lines concern you most. You can also ask what the treatment will not change, whether a different option makes more sense and how follow-up will work.
Our team’s experience includes teaching other practitioners aesthetic injection techniques. We use the consultation to explain the reasoning behind a recommendation in language you can understand. That experience supports careful planning; it does not remove the need for individual assessment or make any procedure risk-free.
Follow-up and further information
Where treatment is agreed, London Finsbury Clinic includes a complimentary review at around 14 days. Any adjustment depends on your doctor’s assessment. Contact the clinic sooner if you have a concern; seek urgent medical help for difficulty breathing or swallowing, or other severe symptoms.
This is general educational information, not a diagnosis or an injection guide. The manufacturer’s prescribing information describes product-specific precautions and potential adverse effects. A consultation may lead to advice, a different option or no treatment.
