What is HIFU? Why we choose Ultraformer MPT in London
Clinic patient guide · Updated 30 October 2026
HIFU stands for high-intensity focused ultrasound. It describes a technology, rather than one particular machine or brand. If you are comparing HIFU treatments in London, knowing that distinction is a helpful starting point: the device, the person using it and your individual treatment plan all matter.
How does HIFU work?
Focused ultrasound delivers energy at selected depths beneath the skin, creating controlled points of heating. In aesthetic treatment, this is used to support tightening and the skin’s collagen response. The aim is a firmer-looking appearance and improved definition without an incision or needles.
A treatment name alone cannot tell you which depths, areas or settings will be appropriate. Your doctor assesses your facial anatomy, skin laxity and goals before planning coverage. Lifting the jawline is a different objective from treating surface hydration or adding volume.
Is Ultraformer MPT the same as HIFU?
Ultraformer MPT is a named device made by CLASSYS, a Korean manufacturer. MPT means Micro-Pulsed Technology. It uses micro- and macro-focused ultrasound, with different cartridges and modes for personalised treatment. HIFU is the general term patients often search for; Ultraformer MPT identifies the platform we use.
Why do we choose Korean Ultraformer MPT?
Our choice combines practical experience with a focus on comfort and clear planning. London Finsbury Clinic used Ultraformer III before moving to MPT. That experience informs how we assess the face, explain treatment and choose appropriate coverage. Our Korean aesthetic approach centres on natural-looking definition and attentive care.
We display our CLASSYS device authenticity documentation and training certificate. Dr. Eroğlu’s practical training in Korea supports our ongoing relationship with the technology. We use genuine equipment and cartridges, and explain your agreed shot count and treatment areas before starting.
What results and comfort can you expect?
Non-invasive HIFU can lift, firm and contour the skin, with minimal discomfort and no planned downtime. Lifting results can be visible immediately, with further improvement over the following months. Results and their timing vary with the individual.
Our clinic’s typical comfort guide is around 2 out of 10. You may feel warmth or tingling, and we check how you feel throughout. Numbing is not routinely needed; additional comfort support can be discussed if you are particularly sensitive.
What should you compare before booking HIFU?
Ask which device will be used, who performs the treatment, which areas are included and how the shot count is planned. Compare complete treatment plans rather than a technology name or starting price alone.
Our main HIFU page sets out areas, shots, prices, photographs, certification and aftercare. Full-face treatment includes the jawline and double chin, with 1,000 shots for £999. Other options have their own clearly listed coverage and price.
Start with a personal consultation
At our King’s Cross clinic, we discuss the change you want to see and explain whether HIFU is suitable. The consultation is also an opportunity to ask about comfort, expected improvement and how the treatment fits your routine.
