HIFU means High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound. It is the general name for technology that concentrates ultrasound energy at selected depths beneath the skin. Unlike a laser, the energy is focused below the surface, where controlled thermal points can support collagen contraction and gradual remodelling.
On the face, treatment can be planned to improve lower-face heaviness, soften selected submental fullness, define the jawline and support a lifted appearance. For suitable patients, different depths can address both structural support and skin quality while keeping the result natural and proportionate.
“HIFU” does not identify the machine. Well-known branded ultrasound platforms include Ultherapy, developed in the United States, and the Ultraformer series from Korean medical-device company Classys. London Finsbury Clinic uses Ultraformer MPT, the latest generation in the Ultraformer family, with Normal and Micro-Pulsed delivery modes plus dedicated face, body and booster cartridges.
Ultraformer MPT is designed for faster, more comfortable delivery than earlier Ultraformer technology. Sensation still varies between people and treatment areas, so we never promise that every treatment will feel identical. The specialised cartridge range allows a doctor to work at multiple depths and, for suitable patients, to plan precise treatment around delicate areas including the under-eye region.
The brand is only one part of a safe, effective plan. The result also depends on whether you are suitable, the number of shots delivered, the cartridges and depths selected, energy settings, treatment vectors and the experience of the practitioner. We explain these details before treatment so you understand exactly what your HIFU London plan includes.
For a comprehensive full-face treatment, our 1,000-shot plan allows broad coverage of the cheeks, mid-face, lower face, jawline and, when appropriate, the double-chin area. A 500-shot plan is intended for targeted concerns such as jawline definition or selected submental treatment.

Is Ultraformer MPT right for your face?
A successful HIFU plan begins with choosing the right patient. We assess facial volume, skin thickness, laxity and your preferred outcome before discussing shots or cartridges.
When HIFU may suit you
You have enough facial volume and would like firmer contours, a more defined jawline, a lifted lower face or improvement in selected double-chin fullness. You prefer gradual, non-surgical tightening and understand that results develop through collagen remodelling.
When another approach may be better
If facial volume is already low, the skin is very thin, or your priority is restoring structure, further tissue reduction may not be appropriate. A doctor may instead discuss collagen stimulators such as Lenisna or Radiesse, or a carefully staged combination.
