Marionette lines treatment FAQs
What are marionette lines?
They are the lines or shadows extending from the mouth corners towards the chin and jawline. Changes in skin thickness, elasticity, volume and tissue support can make them more noticeable. We assess the surrounding face and mouth movement to understand what is contributing.
Is filler always the best treatment for marionette lines?
No. Our preference is to restore what has been lost while preserving your features. Lenisna (Juvelook Volume) may suit concerns about skin quality, firmness and support; carefully selected filler may help lost volume, and Ultraformer MPT may address laxity. We recommend the approach that fits your face and goals.
Why does your clinic prefer collagen support where suitable?
Collagen stimulators such as Lenisna (Juvelook Volume) encourage your own collagen production, supporting skin density, firmness and elasticity over time. The product gradually biodegrades, while the collagen response can last longer. Our aim is a gradual, natural-looking improvement in marionette lines that remains in harmony with your face.
Can filler look visible around the mouth?
It can sometimes create visible or palpable unevenness, particularly when product is placed too superficially or in excess. The mouth is a mobile area, so product, depth and amount matter. We plan conservatively and explain when another option is more appropriate.
What does marionette lines treatment cost?
The listed Juvéderm Voluma option is £350. The focused Lenisna (Juvelook Volume) option is £499. Your doctor confirms the product amount, coverage, sessions and full price before treatment. Additional areas or device treatments are quoted separately.
Who is suitable for treatment?
Treatment is for adults after medical and facial assessment. Tell us about pregnancy or breastfeeding, allergies, previous injections, health conditions and medicines. Cosmetic injections are postponed during pregnancy or breastfeeding and where there is active infection or significant inflammation in the treatment area.
How much product will I need?
The amount depends on the cause and extent of the concern, existing support and the result you want. We explain the chosen product and quantity before starting. More product is not automatically better, and treating every visible line directly is not always appropriate.
What recovery and precautions should I know about?
Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness and bruising can follow injections; some effects take one to two weeks to settle. Infection, persistent lumps, allergic reactions and rare vascular complications are possible. Your doctor explains product-specific risks and aftercare before consent. Seek urgent medical help for visual changes, severe worsening pain, unusual pale or dusky skin, or breathing difficulty after injections.
Can collagen-stimulating treatment be dissolved like HA filler?
Hyaluronic-acid filler may be treated with hyaluronidase when clinically appropriate, but removal has its own risks. Lenisna (Juvelook Volume) contains PDLLA as well as hyaluronic acid; its PDLLA component cannot be dissolved with hyaluronidase in the same way. Your doctor explains the product and how any concerns would be managed before you decide.
Can I combine treatment with Ultraformer MPT?
Yes, when lifting or skin rejuvenation has a clear role in your plan. Ultraformer MPT can address surrounding tissue support, while superficial 1.5 mm and 2.0 mm options focus on skin rejuvenation. Your doctor chooses suitable depths and timing, with particular care to preserve volume in lean faces.
Can I ask questions through WeChat?
Yes. Our WeChat ID is Finsburyclinic. Consultations are in English, and we regularly use live translation apps to support understanding and questions. You can read our Simplified Chinese clinic guide before your visit.
Will treatment change my natural features or expression?
Our aim is to soften the marionette lines that concern you while preserving your proportions, character and natural expression. We focus on restoring lost support and skin quality, rather than erasing every normal line. Treatment is planned conservatively around how your face looks and moves.
Will I need repeated Lenisna (Juvelook Volume) sessions?
We aim to make each appointment worthwhile and avoid unnecessary repeat treatment. In our clinic’s experience, a focused session can provide meaningful improvement. Your skin, starting point and response guide whether another session would add value; a repeat course is not automatic.
